Ofili, Oborududu miss Olympic medal, as Amusan go run today

Team Nigeria’s hope of winning their first medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games don suffer setback last night after the poor performances of Favour Ofili and Blessing Oborududu.

Ofili finish sixth for the women’s 200m final, clocking 22.24 seconds, while USA’s Gabby Thomas win the race with a time of 21.83 seconds. For the Champ de Mars arena, Oborududu lose 3-0 to Japan’s Nonoka Ozaki in the bronze medal match of the women’s 68 kg freestyle wrestling.

However, Ese Brume, Ruth Usoro, and Prestina Ochonogor make history for Nigeria by reaching the women’s long jump final at the Olympics. This na the first time wey three Nigerians go make the final for this event at the Olympics.

Meanwhile, Onwuzurike Chudi don qualify for the semi-finals of the 200m Repechage for the ongoing Olympic Games for Paris, France.

As Team Nigeria still never win any medal for the Paris Games, the hopes now dey rest on women’s 100m hurdles world record holder, Tobi Amusan, who go begin her campaign today, along with others in athletics, weightlifting, and wrestling.
