Di Commissioner for di Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, na him issue statement on Wednesday, wey e dey urge residents to dey vigilant and follow safety precautions.

Di state don dey experience continuous heavy rainfall, with about nine hours of non-stop downpour wey dem record since di early hours of Wednesday. Dis one dey follow di pattern of daily heavy rains wey don happen for di past week, wey don make di Lagos lagoon water level rise well-well.

Mr. Wahab tok say di flash floods don affect several areas, including Iyana-Oworo, wey connect to di Third Mainland Bridge, among other regions. E assure di public say di floodwaters go recede once di rains stop and di lagoon water level reduce.

To reduce di impact, di state government don deploy officials from di Emergency Flood Abatement Gang to critical areas, including Iyana-Oworo, where dem don work to clear blockages and improve water flow.

Di commissioner emphasize di importance of relocating from low-lying areas during dis period to protect lives and properties. “We dey urge all residents for vulnerable zones to move to higher grounds as a precautionary measure,” e tok.
