House of Reps don recover N28.7b from oil companies

House of Representatives Public Accounts Committee (PAC) don recover $19,241,109.35 (N28.7 billion) from two oil companies wey owe Federation Account.

The committee also manage to recover N199.3 million from the N6.8 billion wey dey outstanding. This money include extra charges wey dem collect between March and October 2015, plus the Value Added Tax (VAT) wey dem no remit on transactions wey pass through the Remita platform from 2015 to 2022.

Spokesman of the House, Akin Rotimi, talk this one for a statement yesterday. He explain say the panel’s investigation, wey based on findings from the 2021 audit report, focus on 45 oil companies wey dey owe a total of $1.7 billion in liabilities to the Federation.

The statement also talk say Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) don get evidence of these payments for final verification.
