Despite President Bola Tinubu’s nationwide broadcast, the #EndBadGovernance protests continued today across various parts of Nigeria.

On Day 5 of the protests, security forces fired teargas canisters at Moshood Abiola Stadium. In Lagos, demonstrators gathered at Freedom Park in Ojota, demanding a reversal of the petrol pump price increase and a reduction in food prices.

In Port Harcourt, protesters assembled in Old Port Harcourt Township and Aba Road, pledging to persist until a better Nigeria is achieved.

In Plateau State, protesters adhered to the state’s curfew in the Jos/Bukuru area, leaving their original location at Old Airport Junction.

In Kaduna State, Governor Uba Sani imposed a 24-hour curfew on Kaduna and Zaria after the protests were taken over by criminal elements who engaged in looting and vandalism.

The Federal Government has warned that it will not tolerate any treasonable acts or actions by persons, groups or sponsors of the #ENDBADGOVERNANCE protest against economic hardship in Nigeria. 

Arising from the Security Council meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa today, in Abuja, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, vowed that the Military will clamp down on those Protesters or sponsors hoisting foreign flags within Nigeria.  

Our correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that General Musa said that the Security Chiefs noted that the alleged Peaceful protests has been hijacked by criminal elements in many parts of the country, and reiterated that the Military is also prepared to step in if need be to ensure the nation is peaceful and safe.  

MEANWHILE, the Police have nabbed 30 #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters hoisting Russian flags in Kano and other states. 

Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, who announced this today in Abuja at a press briefing, said one of the flag producers, identified as Ahmed Bello, was arrested with a large quantity of flags in kano. He added that the police were on the trail of other suspects, especially the sponsors. 

Similarly, Russian Embassy in Nigeria has said its officials are not involved and do not coordinate the activities of those waving Russian flags during #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests in parts of the country

In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, the embassy said neither the Russian government nor any of its officials are involved in the activities of the protesters.
