Rights group Amnesty International don talk say Madagascar suppose cancel their plans to bring one new law wey go allow chemical and surgical castration for people wey dem convict of raping minors.

For one statement, Tigere Chagutah, wey be Amnesty’s regional director for east and southern Africa, describe the new proposal as “cruel, inhuman and degrading” treatment.

E talk say e no go solve the problem, and e no dey follow Malagasy constitutional provisions wey dey against torture and other ill-treatment.

Last month, President Andry Rajoelina suggest the changes for the penal code, and the changes include chemical and surgical castration as punishment for people wey dem find guilty of rape against minors. MPs don agree to these changes, and e go still dey reviewed by the Supreme Constitutional Court before dem sign am into law.
