President Bola Tinubu don approve recruitment of 1,000 forest guards for Katsina State as part of efforts to tackle insecurity and bandit attacks for the state.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda announce the approval on Tuesday after stakeholders meeting with Islamic clerics for Government House, Katsina.
According to am, the new forest guards go receive proper training and equipment to work together with the military, police, DSS and local vigilantes to secure communities, especially villages near forests where bandits dey hide.
Radda say the move na part of joint efforts between the Federal Government and Katsina State Government to address insecurity and restore peace across affected areas.
“I thank Mr President for approving our request to recruit 1,000 strong and able young men and women as forest guards. Dem go support conventional security agencies and community watch groups,” the governor talk.
He also praise the Federal Government for increasing the deployment of security personnel to the state, describing the partnership as important in the fight against banditry.
The governor however warn say security agencies alone no fit end banditry, stressing say criminals often get support from informants and collaborators within communities.
Radda call on residents to remain vigilant and provide useful information to security agencies, adding say peace and security na responsibility of everybody.
“Security na everybody work. We urge citizens to cooperate with authorities and help build peaceful communities,” he add.
