De Secretary of de Committee, Ekpo Nta, confirm di meeting for one letter wey im write give di Presidents of di two big labour groups, de Trade Union Congress (TUC) and di Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

Dis upcoming meeting go be di seventh one for di series of discussions wey dem dey do to agree on top new minimum wage for Nigerian workers.

Di last meeting wey dem do on Tuesday, no reach any agreement as Organised Labour reject di Federal Government offer of ₦60,000.

Labour people don show say dem fit adjust their demands, as dem reduce am from ₦497,000 to ₦494,000. Dis na big reduction from their original demand of ₦615,000 wey dem don reduce twice before.

For months now, labour unions and di Federal Government don dey do serious negotiations on top dis new minimum wage matter. Di Organised Labour don give ultimatum say by May 31st, government must meet their wage demands to reduce di economic wahala wey Nigerian workers dey face.

Di Federal Government and di Organised Private Sector first propose much lower figures of ₦48,000 and ₦54,000, wey di labour unions reject sharply. Di latest offer of ₦60,000 still no satisfy di labour leaders as dem talk say e no fit cover di rising cost of living and inflation wey dey affect workers for di country.

Ekpo Nta letter, wey e write give Festus Osifo, President of di TUC, and Joe Ajaero, President of di NLC, emphasize di importance of dis upcoming meeting to find solution to dis minimum wage matter.
