The Nigerian Police Force don warn against di planned demonstrations by some pipo and groups wey wan hold protests for different parts of di kontri on Democracy Day.

Di Force don put dia Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police and State Command Commissioners of Police on high alert, and dem give dem order to work with oda security agencies to ensure say dem put strong security arrangements for ground.

Di directive emphasize di need to prevent any breakdown of law and order and e include strategic deployments to protect key infrastructures. Di police wan make sure say any protest wey go happen dey peaceful and lawful.

Dis cautionary measure dey come as response to intelligence reports wey dey suggest possible unrest during di planned demonstrations.

For one statement wey di Force Public Relations Officer Muyiwa Adejobi release yesterday, e detail di police stance and di measures wey dem dey take to protect public peace. Adejobi highlight di importance of maintaining order and protecting di rights of citizens while dem dey ensure public safety.

“The Nigerian Police Force dey committed to upholding di rights of citizens to peaceful assembly and protest,” Adejobi tok. “However, e dey important say dis kind activities dey conduct within di limits of di law to prevent any disruption of public peace and safety.”

Adejobi dey urge individuals and groups wey dey plan to protest to inform di police and request for protection to make sure say dem dey safe and di public too dey safe. “Those wey wan do peaceful protest suppose inform di police and request police protection. Dis one go allow us make necessary arrangements to ensure say dia activities no go result in violence or chaos,” e add.
