President Bola Tinubu don stop ministers, agency heads, and other government officials from traveling abroad with public funds for now.
Inside one letter wey dem write on March 12, 2024, wey the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, sign, and wey dem address to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, dem talk say the restriction go last for three months to start with, and e go start on April 1, 2024.
The letter talk about how dem dey worry about how the cost of travel expenses wey Ministries, Department and Agencies of Government dey spend dey increase, and how e dey important for cabinet members and heads of MDAs to focus on dia work so dem fit deliver better service.
According to di letter, di ban dey aimed to reduce the amount wey government dey spend and to make sure say dem manage money well, but e no go affect government work.
President Tinubu add say any government official wey wan travel abroad with public money must ask and get presidential approval at least two weeks before dem travel, and the travel must be something wey “absolutely necessary.”
