Dis closure na to allow di Federal Ministry of Works lay asphalt for di section, to ensure better road quality and traffic management.
For statement wey Lagos Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, issue on Thursday, di closure go start 12 midnight on Saturday, July 13th, and e go end by 5 am on Monday, July 15th, 2024.
To reduce di impact of di closure, Commissioner Osiyemi advise motorists make dem use existing alternative routes. E provide detailed guidance for different sets of drivers to ensure smooth travel during di closure period.
Motorists wey dey come from Alexander/Glover fit use Oba Adeyinka Oyekan Avenue inwards Ikoyi to connect to Obalende/Ring Road. From there, dem fit access di 3rd Mainland Bridge to reach their destinations. Those wey dey come from Victoria Island suppose go through Falomo Roundabout to link Awolowo Road, wey go provide access to di 3rd Mainland Bridge.
Alternatively, drivers fit use Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue to link Mekunwen Bridge and proceed to CMS/Apongbon Bridge inwards Eko Bridge to access Funsho Williams Avenue and continue to their destinations.
Commissioner Osiyemi beg motorists make dem get patience and cooperate with di traffic management plans. E emphasize say di closure na necessary part of di government’s broader strategy to improve road infrastructure and better di overall journey experience for all road users for Lagos.
“The closure dey crucial for di completion of di asphalt laying process, wey we expect go significantly improve road conditions for di area. We dey ask for patience and understanding from motorists as we work towards providing better and smoother travel experience for everyone,” Osiyemi talk.
