Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) don change the time wey candidates wey go write 2027 UTME first session go take reach their exam centres.
Before now, JAMB bin direct candidates make dem reach their CBT centres by 6:30am, but under the new arrangement, candidates go now reach by 7:30am. The exam go start by 8:30am and end by 10:30am.
JAMB announce the change for its weekly bulletin wey dem release for Abuja. According to the board, dem make the adjustment because of safety and transport challenges wey some candidates dey face when dem need travel very early in the morning.
The board explain say many candidates dey travel long distance go their exam centres, and some of them dey comot house before day break to meet up with the old time.
JAMB say after plenty discussions happen for the 2026 Management and IT Retreat wey happen for Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, dem agree say the old arrangement fit put candidates under unnecessary stress and risk.
The board also say members of the public don raise concerns about the early arrival time and the difficulties candidates dey face when travelling in the dark.
According to JAMB, the new arrival time go make things easier and safer for candidates. Dem believe say the adjustment fit also reduce the number of candidates wey dey miss their exams because of transport problems and other delays.
JAMB however clarify say the change na only for the first session of the examination. Other exam sessions go still follow the normal timetable.
The board say preparations for the 2027 UTME don already start, even though the examination still dey months away. Dem say the goal na to make the exam process better, smoother and more convenient for candidates.
JAMB advise candidates and parents make dem take note of the new time and wait for further information concerning the complete timetable and other arrangements for the 2027 UTME.
