The Deputy Manager of the NNPC Ltd Command and Control Centre, Murtala Muhammad, said they detected and destroyed over 8,000 illegal refineries and 5,800 illegal oil pipeline connections within six months.
Speaking in Abuja at a Stakeholders Engagement Session with National Assembly journalists, Muhammad highlighted that oil theft remains a serious concern, especially in Bayelsa, Rivers, Imo, and Abia states.
Our correspondent, Nathan Williams, reports that the NNPCL Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, stated that NNPCL can boost crude oil production from 1.7 million barrels per day to 3 million. He noted that if they curb oil theft and pipeline vandalization, it would create a better environment for optimal crude oil production per day.
