Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) don activate their Lassa fever emergency operations center because of the increasing cases of the disease for the country. The Director General of NCDC, Ifedayo Adetifa, sign one statement on Thursday, talk say for 2023, the number of cases wey dem report don increase from week 49, and the infections wey healthcare personnel dey get don increase for three weeks.
NCDC come talk say dem activate the operations center based on risk assessment wey dem do. The assessment talk say the country dey at “high risk” to experience more cases and impact of Lassa fever, because plenty states dey report cases and the number of people wey dey die from the disease dey high.
Dem come advise the public say make dem dey careful about personal, environmental, and food hygiene to fight against Lassa fever. Dem talk say if person quickly detect am and reach health facilities on time, e go increase in chance of survival.
