Lagos State government dey beg residents make dem no join any protest wey fit cause breakdown of law and order. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu make this appeal for a statewide address on Wednesday, urging residents to continue to embrace peace as the government dey work on engaging different stakeholders to find ways to reduce the economic hardship.
However, Governor Sanwo-Olu warn protesters make dem obey the court injunction wey restrict dem to only Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park for Ojota and Peace Park for Ketu, so that security personnel fit provide maximum protection.
He also beg residents make dem reflect on past experiences, especially the EndSARS protests wey start peacefully but later turn to violence when hoodlums hijack am, leading to the destruction of state and personal properties, including iconic structures.
Meanwhile, Lagos High Court don grant an ex parte application wey the State’s Attorney General, Lawal Pedro, file. The court restrict tomorrow’s nationwide protest for Lagos to only Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park for Ojota and Peace Park for Ketu. Justice Emmanuel Ogundare also order say the protests for these two locations must hold between 8 am and 6 pm from August 1 to 10.
The State’s Attorney General argue say this restriction dey necessary to protect the critical infrastructures of the state and prevent any irreparable loss of lives and property, just like wetin happen during the EndSARS protest for 2020.
