As political parties dey intensify their campaigns for the Edo and Ondo States governorship elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) don advise security agencies make dem dey alert to any threats wey fit disturb the peace of the elections.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, deliver this message during meeting with the Inter-agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) for Abuja. E emphasize say security agencies need to work with the Commission to make sure say election officials, logistics for moving personnel and materials, and polling and collation activities no get any disruption. E also urge say political parties, candidates, and their supporters make them keep peace before, during, and after the elections.
The governorship elections for Edo and Ondo States dey scheduled for September 21 and November 16, 2024, respectively.
National Security Adviser representative, Nuhu Ribadu, through the Director of Internal Security, Hassan Abdullahi, don warn say any attempt to disrupt or spoil the peaceful conduct.
