Former US President Jimmy Carter died at age 100. Carter brokered peace between Israel and Egypt and later won the Nobel Peace Prize for his humanitarian work. He passed away on Sunday afternoon at his home in Plains, Georgia.

Carter, a Democrat, served as the 39th president of the US for one term from 1977 to 1981 and became the longest-lived president in US history.

Last year, he started receiving hospice care at home after battling health issues, including melanoma that spread to his liver and brain.
