The Federal Government don start vocational training to empower inmates for Nigeria’s 241 correctional facilities and prepare dem for life after dem don serve their time.

Senior Special Adviser to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education, Abiola Arogundade, wey yan dis one yesterday, talk say only 500 inmates from each facility go dey considered after dem don officially start the pilot scheme for Kuje Centre, wey get space for 723 inmates.

Arogundade, wey talk say President Tinubu dey worried about how dem go fit reintegrate the inmates into society, add say each person wey benefit from the training go get N500,000 grant once dem finish the skills acquisition programme.

She still talk say the target na those wey get few months left for their sentences, and say the programme na based on one similar scheme wey dem dey run for Norwegian prisons wey dey successful.
