FAAN Don Clear Am: Uber, Bolt No Dey Ban for Nigerian Airports “Na Better Arrangement We Dey Find”

Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) don come outside clear the air say dem never ban Uber, Bolt or any other e-hailing service from Nigerian airports.

FAAN say wetin dey happen now na discussion between the airport authority and the e-hailing companies to find proper way wey dem fit operate for airport without putting passengers or airport security for danger.

The authority make this clarification for statement wey dem release on Thursday.

According to FAAN, dem no dey try block passengers from using Uber, Bolt or other transport services. Dem only want make every commercial transport company wey dey enter airport follow the proper airport rules.

FAAN explain say airport no be place wey anybody fit just enter anyhow. Because airport security matter serious, every vehicle and driver wey dey carry passengers inside airport suppose dey known, traceable and accountable.

In other words, FAAN wan sabi who dey drive, which motor e dey drive and who e dey carry, so nobody go use commercial transport enter airport create security problem.

The matter come after reports say e-hailing drivers don face restrictions for some FAAN airports, including Murtala Muhammed International Airport for Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport for Abuja.

FAAN also talk about Airport Car Hire Rank Management System, ACHRAMS, wey dem introduce to put airport transport matter for better shape.

The system na digital platform wey go help FAAN monitor commercial vehicles, improve passenger safety, track operations and make airport transport payments more organised.

The authority reveal say dem don sit down with Uber, Bolt and other e-hailing operators to find common ground wey go work for everybody.

FAAN say dem want arrangement wey go allow passengers continue enjoy the convenience of e-hailing services, while drivers still follow airport security rules.

The authority say the main things wey dem dey look at na passenger safety, airport security, proper identification, accountability and how drivers go pick passengers inside airport.

FAAN therefore warn Nigerians make dem no carry the current situation take believe say government don ban Uber and Bolt from Nigerian airports.
