As Ebonyi State dey prepare for Local Government election wey go happen on Saturday, August 22, police don begin massive deployment of officers and other security operatives across all the 13 local government areas of the state.
For statement wey Police Public Relations Officer, Joshua Ukandu, release on Wednesday, the command talk say under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, Hope Okafor, security agencies don join hand put strong security arrangement in place to make sure say voters fit cast their votes without fear, harassment or intimidation.
To make sure say peace reign during the election, police announce total restriction of both human and vehicular movement across Ebonyi State from 7:00am to 4:00pm on election day.
According to the command, only people wey get official election duties or essential responsibilities go fit move around during the restriction period.
People wey get exemption include officials of the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC), accredited journalists, election observers, emergency health workers, security personnel and other approved essential service providers.
Police warn say anybody wey get exemption must carry valid ID card and election accreditation documents because security operatives go dey stop and verify people for checkpoints across the state.
Commissioner of Police, Hope Okafor, also send strong warning to politicians, party leaders and supporters make dem avoid hate speeches, provocative statements and any action wey fit cause trouble or scatter the election process.
She talk say anybody or group wey try disturb public peace, cause violence or break law during the election go face immediate arrest and prosecution.
The police boss still advise voters make dem behave peacefully, obey instructions from security personnel and avoid any act wey fit disrupt the electoral process.
She reassure residents say security agencies don fully prepare to secure the state before, during and after the election to make sure say the exercise go smooth and free from wahala.
