Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) talk say Naija no dey at risk yet from the Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) infection, wey don put plenty people, especially pikin, for hospital in China.

Reports show say this new respiratory virus outbreak, wey come five years after COVID-19 start for Wuhan, don make the Federal Government activate measures to monitor people wey go dey enter Naija from China because of the virus surge.

The NCDC, besides giving advice, also put in place COVID-19-like protocols at the airports and borders. Dem don start thorough check at Points of Entry (PoEs), develop HMPV Entry Implementation Protocol wey Health Minister Prof. Ali Pate approve, and don identify quarantine places to manage suspected or confirmed cases. All these steps na to stop the virus from spreading.
