The Federal Executive Council (FEC) don give approval for the full implementation of the Stephen Oronsaye Panel report, wey suggest the merging, scrapping, subsuming, or relocating of various government agencies, parastatals, and commissions.
The decision happen during a FEC meeting wey President Bola Tinubu preside over on Monday.
Hadiza Bala Usman, wey be the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination, talk say the aim of this move na to reduce the cost of governance and improve efficiency for government operations.
The decision show the government commitment to streamline operations and make better use of resources, especially given the current economic conditions.
To carry out the proposed changes, FEC don set up an eight-man committee, and dem give dem 12 weeks to complete the mergers, scrappings, and relocations.
The committee include important stakeholders like the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Head of the Civil Service, Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Minister of Budget and National Planning, Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reform, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination, and Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters. The Cabinet Affairs Office go dey the secretariat to support the committee’s work.
