The competition, originally scheduled for 2024 but postponed due to scheduling conflicts, will now kick off on Saturday, 5 July 2025, with the opening match between hosts Morocco and Zambia at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.

Twelve teams have qualified for the 15th edition of the tournament, which is organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The teams have been drawn into three groups of four, with the top two teams from each group and the two best third-placed teams advancing to the quarter-finals.

Group Stage Line-up:

  • Group A: Morocco, Zambia, Senegal, DR Congo
  • Group B: Nigeria, Tunisia, Algeria, Botswana
  • Group C: South Africa, Ghana, Mali, Tanzania

Nigeria’s Super Falcons, nine-time champions and Africa’s top-ranked team, will begin their campaign against Tunisia in Group B. They are aiming to reclaim the title they last won in 2018. Meanwhile, defending champions South Africa will open their title defense against Ghana in Group C on Monday, 7 July.

CAF has also unveiled the tournament’s official slogan, “Born Winners,” celebrating the resilience and excellence of African women in football.

With matches set to take place across five Moroccan cities—Rabat, Casablanca, Mohammédia, Oujda, and Berkane—WAFCON 2024 promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent, passion, and African pride.
