Di drivers, under Amalgamated Union of App-Based Transporters of Nigeria (AUATON), announce di strike for notice wey dem release. Dem talk say di strike go start on Monday and continue until further notice or until dem see progress on di complaints wey dem don raise.
AUATON, wey dey work under Nigeria Labour Congress, talk say di decision follow complaints about how dem dey run di work, drivers’ welfare, safety, security and whether di work still dey bring enough money for dem.
Di union explain say drivers and oda stakeholders don try many times to make people hear their complaints, but plenty of di problems still never get solution.
According to di union, dem decide to stop work because of di challenges wey dey affect drivers’ earnings and working conditions.
To reduce di hardship wey di strike fit cause drivers, AUATON don appeal to fleet owners and managers make dem give drivers temporary break from daily payments and other work targets throughout di strike.
Di union explain say drivers no go make their normal money during di strike, so e no go make sense to expect dem to pay daily remittance as if dem dey work.
AUATON also beg fleet partners make dem no punish drivers, give dem penalties or take any negative action against dem simply because dem join di strike.
Di union add say e go send im task force go all di local government areas for Lagos State to monitor how drivers dey follow di strike directive.
E warn say any driver wey continue to work against di union’s directive fit face punishment under di union’s internal disciplinary rules.
