Following widespread public outcry, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, don withdraw Counter Subversion Bill. The bill go give 10-year jail term for anybody wey refuse to sing di reintroduced national anthem, ‘Nigeria, we hail thee’.

The Speaker, through him Media Adviser, Musa Krishi, explain say him decision come after plenty consultations with stakeholders and careful review of di current situation for di country.

Earlier, Tajudeen talk say di Counter Subversion Bill, wey dem first read on July 23, 2024, no dey target any group of people as di media don talk. Instead, e dey aim to tackle subversive activities by associations, militias, cults, and bandits, like how e dey happen for United Kingdom, Spain, India, Turkey, Canada, and Australia.
