Egbetokun Announce Say Police Don Arrest 28 People for Benue Killings

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, don announce say police don arrest 28 suspects wey dem believe get hand for di deadly attack wey happen for Yelewata area of Benue State.

Di attack happen on June 13, when gunmen storm Yelewata and Daudu communities for Guma Local Government Area of Benue. Di attack lead to di death of over 200 people, including IDPs (internally displaced persons) and farmers.

After di killings, President Bola Tinubu sharply criticize IGP Egbetokun during a stakeholders’ meeting, say police fall hand by no arresting anybody quick after di attack.

Di president bin talk say e expect say police for don catch some of di people wey cause di wahala for Yelewata by now.

But on Tuesday, during press conference for Abuja, IGP Egbetokun announce say dem don arrest 28 suspects, and police still dey pursue other people wey join hand for di massacre.

E assure Nigerians say police still dey in control and dem don increase efforts to seize illegal guns and weapons from pipo wey no suppose hold dem.

Egbetokun also talk say dem don strengthen border patrol to stop illegal people from dey enter Nigeria anyhow, to boost national security.

Among di suspects wey dem arrest, 22 of dem dey Jos, Plateau State, and police say dem get connection to di killing of 9 people wey dey travel for wedding for Quanpan area. Police say all of dem go soon appear for court.
