Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, don crash out of the 2024 Olympic Games after dem lose 88-74 to the United States in the quarter-finals of the women’s basketball event last night.

D’Tigress become the first African team—male or female—to reach the quarter-finals of the Olympics after beating Canada in their final group match on Sunday. After getting their first Olympic win in Athens in 2004, Nigeria wait 20 years for their second victory—beating Australia in their opening pool game on 29 July—but beating the highly experienced USA prove too much.

USA go now face Australia, wey beat Serbia 85-67, on Friday for a chance to enter the gold-medal final.
