Actors Guild of Nigeria don plan to address Federal Government’s directive on movie content

Emeka Rollas, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), don announce plans to meet with members of the association to develop a collective response to the Federal Government’s directive wey talk make dem remove money rituals, smoking, and crime scenes from Nigerian movies.

Rollas make dis statement after Shaibu Husseini, Executive Director of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), confirm say government don ban such scenes.

Even though Rollas personally support the directive, e tok say e no reflect di official stance of the AGN yet. E acknowledge di government’s concern say these scenes fit glamorize harmful behaviors, wey fit lead to negative societal impacts.

“The government dey right to worry about how we dey portray actions wey fit do more harm than good for our society,” Rollas talk. “But we need to make sure say AGN’s response na collective one, wey go represent di views of all our members.”

AGN plan to hold discussions to align on di issue and consider the implications for di film industry. Dis meeting go crucial to determine how filmmakers fit balance creative expression with social responsibility.
