Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State don reveal say e refuse to pay N300 million ransom when kidnappers carry him brothers for 2019.
Lawal talk this one during ARISE News and THISDAY Townhall Conference for Abuja on Thursday. According to am, when the kidnappers demand N300 million, e tell dem say e no go pay one kobo, even if dem decide to kill him brothers.
“My brothers were kidnapped and dem ask for N300 million. I tell dem say I no go pay one dime. If una like, make una kill dem,” Lawal talk.
The governor say after three months for captivity, the kidnappers later release him brothers without collecting any ransom.
According to am, paying ransom only dey encourage criminals to continue kidnapping more people. He insist say him position never change and say e no go negotiate or pay ransom to any criminal no matter the situation.
Lawal also use the opportunity to push for state police, arguing say governors dey carry blame for insecurity but no get direct control over security agencies.
He say Zamfara State don spend heavily on security by providing vehicles, armoured carriers, surveillance drones and attack drones to help security forces fight bandits and kidnappers.
The governor maintain say better funding, training and technology for security agencies na the real solution to insecurity, not paying ransom to criminals.
