Delta Police Tok Say Anybody Wey No Dress Well Go Pay ₦50,000 or Do Community Service
Delta State Police Command don yan say dem go start punish people wey dem catch with “indecent dressing”, based on the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law wey Delta State don adopt since July 2020.
For their official X handle (formerly Twitter), dem post one image of one woman wey wear tank top and miniskirt, with warning wey read:
“As you nor like wear cloth wey dey cover your body well, and you prefer dey waka go work, school or anywhere with clothes wey dey show everywhere for your body, make you hear am – Delta State government nor dey smile for that kain dressing.”
Dem say if dem catch you, you fit either do community service or pay ₦50,000 fine.
But many Nigerians don dey argue over di matter. Some people support the move, say e go help control dressing for public, while others dey vex, say e dey against people human rights and freedom to wear wetin dem like.

Even though police talk say na Section 16 of the VAPP Law dem go use, fact-checkers don yan say Section 16 no talk anything about cloth. Na Section 29 really address the issue of body exposure.
The law talk say:
“Person wey intentionally expose him or her private parts for public dey commit offence of indecent exposure.”
