Tyson Fury’s mission to avenge his only professional defeat ended in disappointment as he lost to unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk on a unanimous points decision at the weekend in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Usyk retained his world championship belts, winning 116-112 on all three judges’ scorecards.
The victory took Usyk’s record to 23-0 with 14 knockouts, cementing his place as one of the best in boxing history. His career includes an Olympic gold medal and being an undisputed champion at cruiserweight.
At 37 years old, the Ukrainian continues to hold the titles of the World Boxing Council (WBC), World Boxing Association (WBA), and World Boxing Organisation (WBO). Usyk is now aiming to become undisputed champion for the second time by defeating International Boxing Federation (IBF) champion Daniel.
