CNG Revolution: President Tinubu Don Order Immediate Distribution of 100,000 Conversion Kits to Reduce Transport Cost

Dem announce the presidential order on Tuesday for State House through Ismaeel Ahmed, wey be Executive Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas (Pi-CNG). According to am, the plan na response to the high price of petrol and diesel wey dey rise because of geopolitical tension for Middle East.

Ahmed talk say the program go start within the next two to three weeks. The main aim na to give motorists and transporters cheaper and more sustainable option as many people dey struggle with high transport cost.

According to the Pi-CNG boss, the conversion kits go allow vehicle owners — including small tricycle operators — change their engines from expensive liquid fuel to cheaper gas.

Government believe say if dem diversify Nigeria energy sources, e go help reduce the country heavy dependence on imported fuel and also stabilize transport cost wey don rise well-well for recent months.

Ahmed still explain say apart from sharing the conversion kits, President Tinubu also order aggressive expansion of supporting infrastructure across major transport routes.

The Pi-CNG initiative dey fast-track development of gas refueling stations and electric vehicle (EV) charging hubs, especially along the Northern Corridor. Right now, about 77 refueling stations dey under construction, while some operational ones don already start work for Kano.

To make the project last long and bring more benefits, the Federal Government dey partner with local and international manufacturers to boost vehicle assembly inside Nigeria.

This partnership go help move the country beyond simple vehicle conversion, as e go also strengthen the automotive industry, create jobs, and improve technical skills for Nigerians.
