The President of NLC, Joe Ajaero, for one statement wey dem release, talk say the Federal Government dey try to make the people suffer more by taking steps wey dem describe as “robbing the people of Nigeria to pay and feed the rich.” According to the NLC, the proposal to pay National Assembly members the sum of N70 billion and the judiciary N36 billion is “the most insensitive, reckless and brazen diversion of our collective patrimony into the pockets of public officers whose sworn responsibility it is to protect our nation’s treasury.”
The NLC dey oppose the idea of using such a large amount of money as palliatives and also paying significant sums to government officials, and dem believe say the money fit dey better used to address the needs of ordinary Nigerians and develop the country.
