Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, don come hard on President Bola Tinubu government over the recent killings for Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, describing the attack as another painful sign say government never succeed for the fight against insecurity.
For statement wey he release on Monday, Atiku express deep sadness over reports say scores of innocent residents lose their lives during fresh attacks on communities for Southern Kaduna.
According to am, the massacre show say government still dey fail in one of its most important responsibilities protecting the lives and property of Nigerians.
Atiku no hide im anger as he describe the killings as unacceptable and heartbreaking.
According to am:
“The killing of innocent Nigerians for Kauru Local Government Area na tragedy wey nobody suppose accept. Every life wey dem waste na evidence say government wey promise security never deliver.”
The former vice president argue say no government fit boast of progress when citizens still dey get killed inside their communities by armed criminals wey seem to operate without fear.
Atiku also accuse Tinubu administration of paying more attention to what he call an unverified claim of receiving a commendation letter from the United States government instead of focusing on Nigeria’s worsening security situation.
According to am, while families dey mourn their loved ones, some government officials dey busy appearing on television and social media discussing international praise.
“Nigerians no need praise letters from foreign countries. Wetin dem need na security,” Atiku talk.
He add say the duty of any serious government na to make sure citizens fit sleep peacefully, travel without fear, farm safely and raise their children without constant threats from terrorists, bandits and other violent criminals.
The Wazirin Adamawa insist say governance no be public relations exercise or media show.
According to am, the true measure of any government na whether citizens feel safe under its watch.
“Governance no be about propaganda or praise. Na the safety of the people go show whether government dey work or not.”
He stress say any celebration of foreign recognition means little if Nigerians continue to die from insecurity.
The former presidential candidate say enough of the usual condemnations after attacks.
He call on the Federal Government to completely overhaul the country’s security architecture and adopt more proactive measures.
According to am, Nigeria needs, better intelligence gathering, faster response to threats, swift arrest and prosecution of criminals, preventive security strategies, and stronger protection for vulnerable communities
He argue say government must move beyond reacting after attacks and start preventing them before they happen.
Atiku also raise concerns as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections begin to gather momentum.
Although he say he hopes the Kaduna killings no get political connection, he urge security agencies to stay alert and strengthen security around vulnerable communities.
