Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA don rescue 27 kidnapped victims, stop fresh kidnapping attempts and recover stolen animals plus motorcycles during special military operations for Sokoto and Zamfara states.
According to statement wey the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North West), Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, release on Wednesday, the operations happen between July 20 and 21, 2026.
For July 20, troops from Forward Operating Bases for Shagari and Sifawa quickly move enter action after intelligence report say terrorists dey operate for Wanke and Kaura communities in Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
As soldiers reach Kaura community, heavy gun battle start between troops and the terrorists. The criminals no fit withstand military firepower and run comot from the area.
The operation lead to the rescue of six kidnapped victims, while soldiers also recover stolen livestock and two motorcycles.
“Troops engage the terrorists with superior firepower and force them run away. Six kidnap victims were rescued and reunited with their families,” Danja talk.
For another operation the same day, troops working together with the Sokoto State Community Guard Corps rescue 10 kidnapped victims wey escape from their captors.
The victims, including men, women and children, were found wandering inside bush around Badanma community for Rabah Local Government Area before dem reunite them with their families.
On July 21, another kidnapping attempt fail after terrorists block the Gummi–Sokoto Highway to abduct travellers.
After distress call reach soldiers, troops of Combat Team 12 rush go the scene, engage the attackers and chase them away.
The operation lead to the rescue of 11 more victims and recovery of one motorcycle.
The military command praise the troops for their professionalism, bravery and quick response wey help save lives.
Danja also beg residents make dem continue to support security agencies with useful information to help fight terrorists and bandits across the North-West.
The latest success na part of ongoing military offensive under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, wey government launch to destroy terrorist and bandit networks for the region.
