Oyo State House of Assembly don throw full support behind Governor Seyi Makinde call make United Nations (UN) carry out independent investigation into the kidnap of teachers and pupils wey happen for Oriire Local Government Area.

For statement wey Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin office release on Tuesday, the lawmakers congratulate Oyo State government and residents over the successful rescue of the kidnapped victims. But dem insist say the way the mass abduction take happen need proper independent investigation.
According to the Assembly, attacks on schools don become serious wahala for Nigeria, and the usual security methods never completely stop the problem.
Dem talk say if all efforts wey Nigeria don make never fit end school kidnappings, e make sense make relevant UN agency investigate the strange circumstances surrounding the Oriire case and give recommendations wey fit stop future attacks.
Governor Makinde bin first make the call on Monday during statewide broadcast after the rescued teachers and pupils return from captivity. E say the incident too serious and unusual, and international investigators fit help uncover important facts wey go strengthen school security.
But during plenary on Tuesday, Senate reject the proposal and advise Makinde make e allow Nigerian authorities finish their investigations. Lawmakers warn against carrying the issue go international level.
Reacting to Senate position, Oyo lawmakers say many people misunderstand the governor’s request.

The Assembly add say many democratic countries don allow independent investigations into major security incidents without affecting their sovereignty or the professionalism of their security agencies.
According to the lawmakers, the main goal of Makinde’s proposal no be to blame anybody, but to make sure say lessons from the Oriire school kidnap lead to stronger protection for schoolchildren across Nigeria.
