Nigeria don reduce Band ‘A’ electricity tariff to N206.80/kwh

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) don yan say make the System Operator for Transmission Company of Nigeria, cap the power wey dem dey give cross-border customers for Benin Republic, Niger, and Togo to only six per cent.

Dem talk say this order go last for six months and dem fit review am later. The document wey dem release talk say the power wey dem dey deliver to Nigeria neighbors no suppose pass six per cent of the total grid electricity at any time.

NERC don also order the 11 Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) make dem reduce the tariff for Band “A” customers from N225/kWh to N206.8/kWh for May 2024.

The commission talk say dem approve this reduction based on changes wey happen for the economy for April 2024, especially the increase for exchange rates. Dem assure customers for Band ‘A’ say dem go still get light for 20-24 hours every day, but the tariff for Band B, C, D, and E no go change.
