President Tinubu don create Ministry of Livestock Development

President Bola Tinubu don announce di creation of di Federal Ministry of Livestock Development on Tuesday, wey signal significant step towards reforming Nigeria’s livestock industry.

Di announcement happen during di inauguration of di Renewed Hope Livestock Reform Implementation Committee for di Presidential Villa for Abuja.

Di President, while he dey inaugurate di committee, no disclose di name of di minister wey go head di new ministry. Dem dey expect say dem go forward di nominee to di Senate for screening and confirmation in due course.

Prominent figures wey attend di event include Vice President Kashim Shettima, di Secretary to di Government of di Federation, Senator George Akume, and di Chief of Staff to di President, Femi Gbajabiamila, among other cabinet members.

Di establishment of di ministry follow President Tinubu’s earlier approval on September 15, 2023, to form a Presidential Committee dedicated to livestock industry reform. Dis committee aim to address long-term solutions to di recurrent clashes between herders and farmers, wey be significant issue for Nigeria.

Di Renewed Hope Livestock Reform Implementation Committee na response to di report wey di National Conference on Livestock Reforms and Mitigation of Associated Conflicts for Nigeria submit. During im address, President Tinubu emphasize di importance of di new ministry in achieving sustainable development for Nigeria’s livestock sector. “This new ministry represent our commitment to addressing di challenges within di livestock sector comprehensively,” President Tinubu talk. “By fostering development and implementing reform, we aim to transform this sector into a robust contributor to our economy and a source of harmony in our communities.”

Vice President Kashim Shettima, wey speak for di event, reiterate di administration’s dedication to finding lasting solutions to di herder-farmer conflicts. He express confidence say di new ministry go spearhead initiatives wey go promote modern livestock practices, enhance agricultural output, and reduce tensions for rural areas.
