Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, don promise to provide permanent office and bus for pensioners for the state. E also promise to look into the money wey dem dey pay as rent for their current office.

According to statement wey Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mashood Agboola, release on Wednesday, the governor make the promises on Tuesday for Ilorin during meeting with leaders of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP) for Kwara State.

AbdulRazaq explain say the current office wey government give the pensioners no be permanent property because dem only get Certificate of Temporary Occupancy (CTO), wey allow dem use the place for a limited period.

The governor talk say e go work with the Head of Service to find permanent place for the pensioners and address the rent wey dem dey pay. E also promise to arrange the bus wey dem request.

Meanwhile, Kwara State Commissioner for Finance, Hauwa Nuru, talk say the state government dey pay pensions as dem suppose and dey make provision for gratuity payments.

Nuru explain say some retirees wey never receive their pensions between 2015 and 2018 no complete the required verification exercise.

She say the failure to attend the verification na the reason some of the retirees never receive their pension for that period.

The chairman of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners for Kwara State, Mahmud Saidu, praise the governor over wetin e describe as changes for pension administration since the government enter office for May 2019.

Saidu recall say before the current administration come in, some workers receive only part of their salaries, while some pensioners receive just 25 per cent or 50 per cent of their pensions.

According to am, after pensioners complain to the governor, the government pay outstanding salary deductions wey pass N4 billion.

Saidu also talk say before the current government enter office, pension payments sometimes delay until the second month. But since May 2019, e claim say workers don dey receive their salaries on or before the 25th of every month.

E add say the state government no owe dem any salary, and e pray for the governor to enjoy long life and prosperity
