INEC don declare APC candidate, Okpebholo, as the winner of Edo governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) don declare Sen. Monday Okpebholo, wey be candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the Edo governorship election wey happen on Saturday.

INEC’s Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Faruk Kuta, announce the result on Sunday for Benin after dem don collate results from 18 local government areas for the state. Kuta, wey be Vice-Chancellor for Federal University of Technology, Minna, talk say Okpebholo, wey dey serve as senator for Edo Central, get 291,667 votes to defeat Asue Ighodalo from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), wey score 247,274 votes. The Labour Party (LP) candidate, Mr. Olumide Akpata, come third with 22,763 votes.

From the results, APC win for eleven local governments, while PDP win for seven areas.
