The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) talk say dem don dey ready to make plans and ready for one run-off presidential election dem wan do, for case where no candidate meet all dem need to declare one winner from votes cast for February 25th, 2023.
The INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye, wey yarn the small expo for one meeting with Bureau Chiefs/Editors of media organizations, talk say the plan don be the tradition of INEC for all elections wey the commission dey do since the return of democracy since 1999. He talk say INEC don dey plan to print times two of the total number of ballot papers wey dem need for the first ballot, incase dem gats rerun election.
The national commissioner also add say before dem go declare candidate as winner of the election, he or she gats get the highest number of votes cast and secure one quarter of the votes dem cast for two-third of the states of the country and the FCT. Hin talk say if no candidate meet the cut-off, the constitution talk say dem go do second election for two of the candidates wey get the highest and major votes in line with the provision of the constitution.
