Serious panic grip residents of Badna community for New Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State after some gunmen storm one senior military officer house for night and gun am down during wetin people believe say na kidnap attempt.
The victim, wey dem identify as Abdussalam A. Ude, be senior officer for the Nigerian Army.
According to reports, the attackers invade the colonel residence on Monday night as heavy rain dey fall. Dem allegedly come with plan to carry am go, but the officer stand gidigba and refuse to follow dem.
Witnesses talk say as the colonel resist the kidnappers, the gunmen open fire on am and pump several bullets for him body.
Another community leader for the area also confirm the sad incident, saying the attack don leave residents for shock and fear.
According to sources, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) wey dey supervise Kurudu Division rush go the scene on Tuesday morning after the incident. After inspection, the police team carry the late officer body comot from the area go mortuary.
As news of the killing begin spread for social media and online platforms, many people quickly assume say the attack happen inside Abuja because Badna community dey very close to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
But the spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, quickly clear the matter, stressing say the incident no happen for anywhere inside Abuja jurisdiction.
Later for Tuesday, the FCT Police Command release official statement wey confirm say investigations show clearly say the attack happen for Badna, New Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, and not inside the Federal Capital Territory as some reports claim.
Following the development, the Commissioner of Police for the FCT, Ahmed Sanusi, don order immediate deployment of security operatives and intelligence officers to border communities between Nasarawa and Abuja.
Police say the move na to stop criminals from using nearby communities take penetrate the Federal Capital Territory.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army don also acknowledge the incident. When journalists contact the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Appolonia Anele, she confirm say the Army dey prepare official statement concerning the killing.
The tragic death of the senior officer don once again raise serious concern over the growing activities of kidnappers and armed criminals around communities bordering Abuja and Nasarawa State.
