GHCTF Don Launch I-HELP to Make Health Insurance Reach Poor Nigerians

Global Health Charity and Training Foundation (GHCTF) Don Launch I-HELP to Make Health Insurance for one programme wey dem call Inclusive Health Insurance Enrolment Programme (I-HELP), to make better healthcare reach more Nigerians wey no get money.

Dem join body with Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (P-SHAN) launch the programme for one big fundraising dinner wey happen for Lagos.

One of the oga for GHCTF, Dr. Adebayo Akintobi, talk say the programme na to close the gap for people wey no fit get healthcare, especially poor Nigerians.

E explain say the plan go join health insurance registration with free medical treatment and training for health workers.

Dem go start the programme for Lagos, Imo, Oyo, Delta, and Bayelsa states after dem don first test am for Ogun State.

Dem target to register at least 2,000 poor people for each state within the first year.

People wey benefit go get free medical check-up, drugs, and even serious surgeries wey fit change life.

The programme still get telemedicine services and medical outreach wey Nigerians for abroad go come help with.

Dr. Akintobi talk say the programme strong well-well and fit last long and grow.

According to am: β€œThis programme join knowledge and care together so that no Nigerian go miss treatment because of money.”

For the launch, Federal Government give their support too, as part of plan to make healthcare reach everybody.

Minister of State for Health, Dr. Iziak Adekunle Salako, wey Mr. Ogbonnaya Okpani represent, talk say plenty Nigerians still never join any health insurance.

E warn say the money wey people dey pay from their pocket for treatment dey push many families enter poverty.

The minister say I-HELP na important national plan to protect people and make health better for the country.

E talk say na only about 21.7 million Nigerians dey insured now, and most of them na people wey dey formal work.

According to am: β€œI-HELP na way to reduce poverty and make sure say everybody get equal chance for healthcare.”

P-SHAN sef talk say the programme show say everybody need to join hand to fix Nigeria health system.

Their Director of Policy and Programmes, Dr. Anne-Adda Ogo, say teamwork na the key to improve health for Nigeria.

She explain say dem dey use private sector money support health programmes wey get real impact.

She add say dem dey follow data and accountability to make sure say every money count.

According to her: β€œIf we work together, we fit reduce the pressure on Nigeria health system and make every naira useful.”

Ogun State Health Commissioner, Dr. Tomi Coker, talk say the programme go help expand insurance especially for poor people.

She say dem dey encourage rich people to sponsor insurance for children, pregnant women, and old people.

The programme follow government plan to increase health insurance coverage for Nigeria.

According to Dr. Coker: β€œHealth insurance na the best way to make sure say every Nigerian fit get quality healthcare.
