Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), don call on authorities to provide clear and verified information about di NYSC members wey kidnappers carry for Kogi State, after reports say 11 victims don regain freedom.
For statement wey dem share for X on Monday, di union talk say different reports about di status of di kidnapped corper dem don create confusion and worry among families and members of di public.
According to di union, although dem welcome efforts by security agencies to rescue di victims, authorities need provide proof and correct information on di people wey dem claim say don regain freedom.
Di statement refer to report from Kogi State Police Command wey say 11 kidnapped victims don regain freedom while security operatives still dey search for others wey remain for captivity.
However, di union say some families still dey express concern over di whereabouts and condition of dia loved ones.
The students’ body also mention reports wey claim say kidnappers dey demand ₦20 million ransom for each victim wey still dey captivity.
One of di affected corpers, according to di union, na Adedolapo, wey graduate from FUNAAB College of Animal Resources Management and Animal Production.
The union insist say if di 11 victims wey police talk say dem rescue truly regain freedom, authorities should provide clear confirmation, including dia names and evidence of dia safe return.
Dem also call on security agencies and media organisations make dem properly verify di situation and provide Nigerians with accurate information on every victim involved.
The union add say e no go stop to ask questions until families get clear answers and all di victims return home safely.
Meanwhile, Chidinma, sister to one of di kidnapped corpers, don appeal to di Federal Government and security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue di victims.
For message wey she share online, she claim say her sister and other corpers still dey inside forest with di kidnappers and say families dey struggle to meet di ransom demands.
Chidinma also dispute reports wey suggest say some victims don regain freedom, insisting say her sister still dey missing.
According to her, di corpers bin dey travel from Bayelsa State after NYSC orientation camp when kidnappers attack dia vehicle along di route.
She allege say di driver of di vehicle die during di attack while kidnappers carry several passengers enter bush.
On dia part, Kogi State Police Command maintain say 11 victims don regain freedom.
Police spokesperson, SP Salisu Oyiza Afusat, explain say armed men attack two buses along Aloma–Egane Expressway in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State and kidnap some passengers.
She say police and other security operatives later launch rescue operation wey lead to di release of 11 victims, including di drivers of di two buses.
According to di police, operation still dey continue to rescue any remaining victims and arrest di people behind di attack.
