FEC approve 4.8 billion Naira for HIV patients treatment program

Federal Executive Council (FEC) don approve $1.07 billion to support healthcare sector reforms under the Human Capital Opportunities for Prosperity and Equity (HOPE) program. After FEC meeting yesterday, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, talk say the World Bank’s Concessional financing arm, the International Development Association (IDA), don give two concessional loans of $500 million each, plus $70 million in grant funding from other organizations.

Our Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan, report say the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, talk say FEC also approve N4.8 billion to buy 150,000 HIV treatment packs for the next four months as part of the broader healthcare reforms.

The Health Minister also mention say FEC discuss how the recent U.S. policy changes go affect Nigeria’s health programs, especially for HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria funding. He talk say a multi-ministerial committee, wey go include reps from Ministries of Finance, Health, Defense, Environment, and Governors’ Forum, go work on a plan to ensure smooth transition and sustainability in case of any funding disruptions.
