EFCC don grant bail to former Sokoto governor, Tambuwal

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) don grant former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, administrative bail after dem question am over alleged financial wahala.

Tambuwal, wey also be former Speaker of House of Representatives, dey accused say he withdraw about N189 billion fraudulently during him time as governor.

One senior EFCC official wey no wan make dem mention him name talk say Tambuwal don give investigators wetin dem need, and dem don release am after he meet bail condition.

He talk say, β€œWe don grant am administrative bail. We don collect wetin we need from am, and he go soon leave our office after he perfect him bail.”

EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirm the matter but no talk more.

Tambuwal honour EFCC invitation on Monday and reach their Abuja office around 11:16 a.m.

Labour Party 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, react to Tambuwal arrest. He talk say Nigeria anti-corruption fight must dey sincere and transparent if e go work.

Obi post for him verified X account on Tuesday say Tambuwal arrest show the contradiction wey dey inside Nigeria anti-corruption effort.

He talk say, β€œTo fight corruption well for Nigeria, everything must dey transparent. Tambuwal arrest by EFCC don show the contradiction wey dey inside the fight against corruption.

β€œI don always talk say na sincerity from leaders go help tackle corruption. I dey wait for the time wey anti-corruption fight go dey under one law wey go apply to everybody, no matter who you be, and no be law wey go target political enemies or opposition.

Obi still talk say, β€œFor corruption fight to make sense, people must believe say the rules dey fair and say dem no dey pick who to arrest based on political interest.”
