Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa don talk say the recent increase wey dey happen for killings across Nigeria na because of the wahala wey dey build up as 2027 general election dey near.

For recent times, terror attacks don start again for North-East, and bandits dey disturb North-West. Benue and Plateau still dey suffer plenty killings.

On Monday, dem kill at least 34 people wey dey pray for mosque for Unguwar Mantau community inside Malumfashi Local Government Area for Katsina State.

Musa yarn this one for Channels Television Politics Today on Thursday evening. He talk say the insecurity wey dey rise pass last year own, and e no fit separate from the political activities wey dey happen because of election wey dey come.

He talk say some politicians dey purposely cause violence make people no trust the government security work, so dem fit use the confusion campaign.

He say, “Criminals, both bandits and terrorists dey work together. Dem wan make money and scatter communities. But politics join too. Some people no want peace because if peace dey, people go say government dey try. If wahala full ground, dem go say government dey fail.

“Last year, we get the lowest number of deaths. Why this year everything just increase? Politics don start, election dey come. You no fit remove the fact say some people dey control these criminals to make sure peace no dey, so dem go spoil government name. But wetin funny be say, how you go dey kill people wey you wan govern? Wetin you go gain?”

Musa still talk say terrorism dey grow for Nigeria because of money wey dey come from inside and outside the country.

He mention say Attorney-General of the Federation, Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, DSS and National Intelligence Agency dey track people wey dey fund terrorists, but legal wahala dey slow the process to call their names.

He say dem don see say some foreign people dey support terrorism, and dem dey follow the links.

“The process to name people wey dey fund terrorism don start. Just last week, AGF and others go check. E get legal and international matter wey dey inside. Some of them dey collect money from outside. NFIU don do plenty work; dem don arrest people and court case don start. The people wey do the Owo bombing don dey face trial,” he talk.

Musa don complain say Nigeria legal system dey make am hard to prosecute terrorists well. He talk say make dem speed up court cases, make laws strong well-well, and even create special courts wey go handle terrorism matter sharp-sharp.

He talk say, “E still get wetin concern legal system. Sometimes, we go carry evidence go court, dem go throway am for one reason or the other. We need to check our legal system again because the punishment and how dem dey prosecute cases too slow and no strong reach.

“If we get special courts, we fit handle cases fast as e suppose be. We need to change how we dey punish offence. Our laws suppose dey tight, especially for terrorism. The legal system dey frustrate us. We need to scatter am, rearrange am, make am fast and strong. If people know say dem fit do anything and go free, wahala go full ground and we no go fit prosecute.”

He still talk say sometimes evidence go reach court, dem go knock am out. Punishment dey slow and no strong. We need to change the legal system, make am fast and tough. If people dey do anyhow and nothing dey happen, impunity go enter. For example, for South-South, we dey arrest vessel, dem go pay small money, and the vessel go come back. Na why we start to bomb dem, even though environmental wahala dey. But that bombing bring more peace pass the legal delay wey dey before.

Musa also talk say the wahala wey dey Sahel region dey affect Nigeria security. He point finger say open market for gun and bullet dey for countries wey dey near Nigeria, and our border wey long reach 4,000 kilometres dey porous.

He warn Nigerians make dem no dey welcome foreigners anyhow. He say many of them dey pretend say dem be our brothers and sisters, but dem dey bring wahala.

“Since Libya collapse, Sahel don open. You fit buy any kind weapon for those market. Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso no stable. Everybody dey eye Nigeria because e get money and big. Our problem be say Nigerians dey open door anyhow. Na so Boko Haram start, people welcome strangers wey later turn monster. We no suppose allow foreigners take even one inch of our land,” he warn.

Musa talk say military dey work with other Sahel countries under Alliance of Sahel States to stop terrorism wey dey cross border. But he beg Nigerians make dem support Armed Forces and stop to hide criminals.

He say, “These terrorists dey survive because some people still dey support dem with money, fuel, logistics or shelter. Locals even dey send money enter their account every day. If we no give dem space, dem no go fit survive. To defeat dem, everybody gats join body.

The wahala start after Libya fall. Now Sudan don scatter, Sahel open. Dem get market wey you fit go buy any kind weapon or bullet. People dey waka pass anyhow, and border just dey open. Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso still dey face this same problem.

But we gats think about security. Sometimes these people go enter, we go say na our brothers and sisters, but dem no mean us well. We go allow dem stay till dem turn monster begin chop us, na that time we go start to complain.

We still dey work with countries wey dey Alliance of Sahel States because we know say we need dem. We need make dem stable. If your neighbour dey in trouble, you gats stand strong. We dey work with military for there. We know say e important make we protect ourselves,” Musa talk.

He still complain say terrorists dey use the fact say Nigeria no get enough technology to continue their bad work.

He talk say security don cost pass before, partly because of the Russia-Ukraine war. But he say Nigerian Army dey try with the small resources wey dem get to protect citizens.

He talk say, “Make I give example; one medium range precision weapon dey cost $100,000. If na $100,000, how much be that for Naira? How many you fit buy? So you gats use am wisely, make sure say e dey give better result. Just two weeks ago, we do one correct strike wey kill over 100 of dem wey dey ride 50 motorcycles. Na better strike be that. The timing make sense, we ready, drone dey, we see dem and we clear dem.”

Musa still talk say military need real-time satellite to do precise attack, but the technology cost plenty money, and na that weakness bandits and terrorists dey use take advantage.

He add say, “You see, wetin we need na real-time satellite. Make I give example, when operation dey go on, if you fit see wetin dey happen, commanders fit direct say, this one dey move go here, those ones don deploy there, e go make sense. But we no get am, and to get am dey cost well-well. Dem dey use that our lack take do anyhow.”

He still talk say some countries fit use better equipment because na dem dey produce am by themselves. He come talk say President Bola Tinubu don approve Defence Industrial Bill wey go allow Nigeria begin produce equipment.

“Sometimes, even if you get money, you no go fit buy the equipment. Now, with the Russia-Ukraine war wey still dey go on, many equipment don hard to get. Na why I happy say Mr President last year approve, after he sign the DICON bill, the Defence Industrial Bill, so we fit invite original equipment manufacturers make dem come produce for here. Because if we produce am here, we go fit get better value for our money. If we no do am, e go hard well-well. So we dey work on top that matter,” the Defence Chief talk.
