October 20, 2026

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar don criticise the Federal Government under All Progressives Congress (APC) over the questions wey still dey surround the October 20, 2020 Lekki shooting and the way life dey hard for Nigerians.

Atiku, wey be presidential candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC), talk this one for im X page on Tuesday. E say six years after security operatives shoot people wey dey protest against police brutality for Lekki tollgate, Lagos, Nigerians still dey wait make dem explain wetin really happen and who give the order.

Atiku ask, “Six years after the Lekki shooting, Nigeria still dey wait for clear answer to one serious question: Who give the order?”

The former vice president also criticise the way President Bola Tinubu respond to the incident for October 2020, when e question the presence and behaviour of protesters wey suffer during the shooting.

Atiku say the response look like say dem dey question the people wey suffer instead of demanding answers about the violence against peaceful protesters.

E add say the anger wey many Nigerians still dey feel over the incident show say the pain never go, and many young people still no trust the government because dem never see the kind justice and answers wey dem want.

Atiku talk say, “APC don rule Nigeria throughout these six years. E no fit continue to tell Nigerians to remember the people wey die without answering the questions wey still dey hang for the air.”

E also say any government wey no fit assure citizens say their lives matter don fail one of the most important duties wey e get.

Atiku connect the unanswered questions about the Lekki shooting with the money wahala wey young Nigerians dey face. E mention the increase for petrol price, the way people’s money no longer fit buy enough things and the lack of better opportunities.

E say petrol wey dey sell for ₦1,405 per litre don make am harder for Nigerians to pay transport fare, buy food, pay school fees and afford house rent.

Atiku talk say, “APC promise to make things better. But for plenty Nigerians, na prices of things dey rise, opportunities dey reduce, and better future dey move far away from their reach.”

To show how the hardship dey affect workers, Atiku talk about one young woman wey e say leave her job because the salary wey she dey collect no longer fit pay her transport fare.

E quote the woman as saying, “The money wey dem dey pay me no longer fit pay my transport. Everything for Nigeria just dey increase in price. E be like say na Bolt drivers I dey work for.”

Atiku describe the situation as proof of how hard life don become for workers, as some people wey get job no longer fit afford the money wey dem need to go work every day.

E say the Economic Recovery Plan wey e propose get plans to make life cheaper for Nigerians. The plans include support wey connect with fuel wey dem refine inside Nigeria, increase for local production, protection for people wey dey collect minimum wage, support for students and reduction for government waste.

Atiku say young Nigerians deserve to know the truth about the Lekki shooting, and dem also deserve an economy wey go allow person work and earn enough money to live well.

E talk say, “Young Nigerians deserve to know the truth about Lekki. Dem deserve government wey go protect life and an economy wey go make person work and still get better future.”

E add say Nigerians get the right to question government over the answers wey dem never get about the shooting and the few opportunities wey dey available for young people.
