The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) don declare September 10, 2024, as Victimized Lecturers’ Day, the day wey dem go take express their displeasure with the labor-management crises wey dey happen for Lagos State University, Kogi State University, Federal University of Technology Owerri, and other places.
The National President of ASUU, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, talk this one yesterday when him yarn with newsmen for Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, to inform the public about the outcome of the union’s National Executive Council meeting wey dem hold between August 17 and 18 for University of Ibadan.
Osodeke talk say ASUU don give Federal and State Governments 21 days to settle all the “outstanding issues” wey dey hinder the development of the country’s universities. This one include “emergency revitalisation fund for public universities; payment of outstanding earned academic allowances; and release of withheld salaries, promotion arrears, and third-party deductions of our members.”
Him still add say after the 21 days’ notice expire, the union go gather again to take the necessary decision
