As e be say wahala full ground for Nigeria now, some people wey sabi don tell Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) make dem cancel dia plan to increase salary for political office holders.
RMAFC oga, Mohammed Shehu, talk say dem wan review the money wey President and other politicians dey collect, say the current pay no dey reach, e don old and e no match the kind work wey dem dey do now. Shehu talk say President Bola Tinubu dey collect N1.5 million every month, ministers dey collect less than N1 million, and say since 2008, the money never change.
Shehu talk say, “You dey pay President N1.5 million per month. Everybody dey laugh. You no fit dey pay minister less than N1 million since 2008 and expect say he go work well without finding other means.”
He still talk say CBN governor or DG dey collect 10 times wetin President dey collect, and some agency heads dey earn 20 times wetin Attorney-General dey earn. Say that one no make sense at all.
But the proposal don cause serious gbege. People talk say the idea dey provoke, selfish and no get timing at all. PDP, Northern CAN, ACF, Otunba Dele Oye, Chief Chekwas Okorie, ADC, NNPP and CUPP all talk say the plan no follow. Dem say for this kind hard time, government suppose dey reduce cost, no be to dey increase money for politicians.
Dem dey beg government make dem focus on how to help ordinary Nigerians wey dey suffer, instead of dey plan salary increase for people wey already dey enjoy.
ACF National Publicity Secretary, Professor Tukur Baba, don talk say the plan to increase salary for political office holders na “disappointing, insensitive and provocative.”
Baba talk say the plan dey disappointing because with the kind wahala wey dey the economy and the suffer wey people dey face, politicians no deserve any salary increase unless dem wan reduce am well well.
He still talk say the move dey insensitive because e no follow the reality wey dey ground, about 60% of Nigerians dey suffer different kind poverty and over 75% dey live with small money wey no fit cover basic needs.
According to am, the proposal dey provocative because Nigerians already dey see politicians as people wey government dey pamper too much. He warn say this kind action fit cause serious anger and wahala for society, especially as inequality dey increase and middle class don almost disappear.
Otunba Dele Oye, wey be former President of NACCIMA, talk say the timing of the salary review no good at all. Say e go send wrong signal to the economy.

For statement, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, talk say the plan no get timing and e dey show say government no dey consider wetin ordinary Nigerians dey go through.
Dem acknowledge say RMAFC get constitutional right to review salary, but dem talk say to dey push for salary increase now show say government no dey connect with the people at all. To dey propose salary review when millions of Nigerians dey suffer from high food price, fuel wahala, and poor minimum wage na clear sign say government no dey reason the people.
The party talk say politicians already dey enjoy big big allowance, plenty perks and money wey pass the N70,000 minimum wage wey inflation don chop finish and many people no even dey collect.
Abdullahi ask, “How political office holders dey maintain their big man lifestyle if truly these ‘old’ salaries na wetin dem dey depend on?”
ADC come blast government officials say dem dey protect themselves from hardship, but dey expect ordinary Nigerians to dey sacrifice.
Abdullahi talk say, “Federal Government no get moral right to dey ask Nigerians for sacrifice when dem dey make life soft for themselves.”
The party still talk say most Nigerians no dey get any extra allowance to help with the rising cost of living, unlike politicians wey dey enjoy all kinds of benefits.
Dem talk say, “Make we reason am well, minimum wage na N70,000 per month, and inflation don reduce the value. But unlike politicians, most Nigerians no dey get any extra allowance or benefit.”
ADC come demand make government suspend the salary increase plan sharp sharp and focus on policies wey go better people life.
Abdullahi talk say, “As a party, we believe say instead of dey give more money to political big men, government suppose focus on how to raise minimum wage to better level and help the poorest Nigerians.”
PDP don vex well well over the proposal to increase salary for political office holders, say the idea na “insensitive and wicked” especially as Nigerians dey face serious economic wahala.
PDP Deputy National Youth Leader, Timothy Osadolor, yarn for Abuja say the move show say politicians no dey understand wetin ordinary Nigerians dey go through every day.
He talk say the new minimum wage of ₦70,000 no fit do anything, especially as one bag of rice don reach almost ₦100,000.
He talk say, “E dey very insensitive to dey talk about salary increase when people dey hungry, inflation dey bite, and our naira don fall anyhow.”
Osadolor even compare Nigeria economy with Benin Republic own, say ₦15 million na just 5.6 million CFA francs. He talk say Benin currency strong pass Nigeria own now.
He add say, “If this one no make Tinubu economic team resign with shame, I no know wetin go move dem.”
He ask how person wey get family go survive with ₦70,000, while politicians dey collect hundreds of millions with allowance and overhead, yet dem still dey talk about salary increase.
Osadolor still blame National Assembly and Presidency say dem dey support wasteful spending instead of showing good example.
He talk say, “For country wey get sense, just to propose this kind thing go make people resign. But for here, dem go clap for dem inside National Assembly and Villa.”
He beg government make dem cancel the plan and focus on how to reduce cost. He talk say, “For this kind economic wahala, dem suppose dey talk about cutting down expenses and reducing the big big money wey Presidency and National Assembly dey spend, no be to dey increase salary for themselves.”
