Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, don approve the distribution of 1,800 bags of rice and other relief materials to widows, persons living with disabilities (PWDs), elderly people and other vulnerable residents across the state.

The programme na part of President Bola Tinubu government Renewed Hope Initiative Social Investment Programme, wey aim to reduce hardship and support people wey dey struggle because of the current economic situation.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr Seun Osamaye, announce the development during a media briefing for Akure on Monday.

According to Osamaye, many families don face serious economic pressure due to the present condition of the country, and government no fit fold hand watch.

She explain say the programme target, Widows, Persons with disabilities (PWDs), Senior citizens, and Other vulnerable residents.

“As a caring government, we dey committed to reducing hardship and improving the lives of vulnerable citizens across Ondo State,” she talk.

She confirm say a total of 1,800 bags of rice go reach qualified beneficiaries.

The commissioner explain say the intervention no be only about sharing food.

According to her, the programme go help, Reduce hardship for struggling families, Improve household welfare, Restore dignity to beneficiaries, Increase public confidence in government support programmes, and Give vulnerable people hope and encouragement.

She add say the initiative show the compassionate leadership style of Governor Aiyedatiwa.

“No citizen go dey left behind for Ondo development journey,” she assure.

Apart from the rice distribution programme, the state government also announce another empowerment initiative called Project 774 Explode Initiative.

The programme go focus on educating and empowering women to participate more actively in politics, governance and leadership positions.

According to Osamaye, many women dey contribute greatly to society but their representation for government positions still low.

The initiative go provide training on, Gender equality, Leadership development, Political participation, Mentorship, Networking, Capacity building, and Advocacy skills.

She say the programme go help women build confidence and prepare them for leadership roles at different levels.

The commissioner describe both programmes as strategic investments in human capital and social development.

According to her, the state government dey committed to build a society where, women fit contribute fully to governance, vulnerable citizens get proper support, communities develop sustainably, and nobody feel abandoned.
